I had 2 Opaline Gouramis and they were incredibly active always chasing each other around and swimming back and forth just every where. They would even probe the other fish and all the decorations with their ventral things. Well one killed the other and I put him in his own little 29 gallon tank and I think the only time he sits still is after lights out.
My goldfish are very full of life. If i sit in front of the tank without giving them some form of attention they will spit gravel at the glass until I do. One of them even likes to play peek a boo around the driftwood.
