I need more fish in my 30g! the dimensions are 36x12x18.

Current stock:

3 1.5" Ottos
2 2" Black Tetras
1 2" Tonguefish (FW flounder? I heard brackish but thriving in my tank for 3 months already.)
1 2.5" red-tailed black shark
4 1" white cloud mountain minnows (other 9 killed and eaten by black tetras believe it or not)
.

Any suggestions?

You should keep your black tetras in a group (6+), it lowers their agression to other fish, reduces fin nipping, and it may possibly save your minnows.

Find out about your toungefish first. If it is a flounder and needs brackish then move it. It may survive for a year or so but will ultimately die a very early death, liekly due to skin or eye infections. And yes, tetras need school. I doubt they killed the minnows but would easily have eatne the dead bodies. White clouds are coldwater fish and have weak immune systems in hot water.

Vicarious thrill?

Adding more to the balck tetras would help. I agree on the tonguefish--determining the exact species is important. There are FW tonguefish, but very few stay small enough for your tank, so either case, tonguefish or flounder, long term it's going to need moved.

With aggressive fish in there, why are you considering adding more targets for them?
