Thats interesting! Ok then I don't know what these are... They leave their egg sacs everywhere, often in places that are hard to reach (driftwood, undersides of things, leaves, etc) and are stuck on hard!
Either pond snails or common Ramshorns are probably what you have. of the three most common hitchhikers, they are the egg layers.
wannabefishguru Of the list you gave, the ramshorn woul be my favorite Assuming you mean common Ramshorn and not the big columbian ramshorns.
Of all the snails I've kept my favorite by far is the common ramshorn.
The columbian ramshorn is a flat spiraled apple snail and will munch your plants. Common or Red ramshorns are about as plant friendly as anything can be.
Nerites are said to be decent, but They won't reproduce for you in freshwater, I consider this an extreme disadvantage but others may not.
mysteries are pretty popular and well liked, just make sure you get true mystery snails and not some other species of apple snail. It's easy to tel, if you get a mystery snail it won't eat your plants. If you get an apple snail it will look like a lawn mower was turned loose in your tank.
I'd also give a good vote to MTS's and pond snails. Both are plant friendly, both will maintain populations, both are easy to keep.
If you haven't already seen it the begginers guide to snails in the article ssection has some additional info, and a couple of good links.
