Which method of filtration is best?

my question is on my 215ltr malawi tank is it better to run 1 x 500ltr external filter or 2 x 250ltr externals.

probably doesn't make a massive difference but i would go with 2 250ltr externals because you can clean one on one week and the other the next. also two filters will probably provide larger surface areas for bacteria. and finaly if one breaks the other will give you more time to replace it.

What you want the ability to filter while one filter fails. I also would add a sponge at the intake point. this way you never have to clean the filter. Also with two filters, now you have four sponges full of good bacteria. When you clean one sponge, you onlydamage 1/4 of the surfaces. You can also use these sponges to quickly set up a new tank for emergencies.
