Which Pico would you choose?????

Based upon looks I like the first one, however the 2nd has the best equipment. I would definitely go with the second one.

What type of corals do you plan to put in there? I was thinking of starting a 3g pico with a small frag ricordia garden.

yes look wise the 1st one def stands out IMO, but the second better everything.erv: Anywho..... I already have a couple pieces of coral picked out, Im going to add a white ric, a fuzzy mush, a lavender green mush, bright green,pink, orange, and purple zoas, (all really small maybe 5 heads on each) Do you think that this lighting will be suficient for a clam? (I saw a pico w/ a iddy bitty clam looked good)

I agree with bob. on the whole tank stability. Thats why when I started my 1st sw tank I opted to go the bigger route. Levels stay stone cold stable, even my 40 stays pretty stable. I did have a 10G tank that housed a pistol/goby pair, but upon transfering them from a 10 to a 40 they dissapeared (not even sure they are still alive) so Now im going with a small route even if the goby outgrows the tank I can always transfer him to my 40G honestly I dont even know if I want that stocking in that tank I do like the idea of a sexy shrimp or a clown goby, or I might just leave it fishless IDN. I just love the whole small mini reef and I dont want to have another big box of water (unless I find a deal on a 180+ G tank future PRED TANK:devil I def like a challange of having to up-keep something small I look foward to it.

Oooo sounds like you are going to have a pretty coral garden in there. Can't wait to see the setup. Thats why I love picos, you can easily fill them up with pretty colorful frags. I could spend over 90 dollars for my 35G and only fill a 1/9 of a space.

As for the clam, I don't think the lighting would be sufficient. Seems like clams love T5s and MH. But those other corals should really make the tank stand out so I don't think you are loosing anything. It will still look cool. Maybe you could try a nice sun coral? I bet spot feeding would be a breeze in that tank.

Itwo tank makes will be a small yellow goby(1" or less) OR randalls goby and a small (1" or less) tiger pistol shrimp.

I'd not put any fish in there, especially not a randall's...those get to be 3-4".

point i was trying to make is that often times cost is a main rason for selecting a pico.

I agree, I see that happen as well.
