I have a 20 gallon tank where I'm going to add guppies, white clouds, zebra danios.

Anyways, i'm looking for which plants. I want this a planted/guppy tank. I'm going to buy 3 plants today. It's going to be Java Fern and Dwar Hairgrass. I'm very new to plants. If anyone can suggest the third one, then please do so. I don't want a hard one and one that needs a lot of light. I only have a 15 Watt light for my 20 gallon right now.

Also, is their a site that gives tips/guides to the plants i listed above?

Also, my lighting is only 15 watt for 20 gallon. I checked many fish store for more for an 18" but they're all 15 watt. What can I do? I might want/need more in the near future.

You could get a dual fluorescent hood for not too much ($35 or so) big al's has one here: 24 inch dual fluorescent strip light I'm sure there are other places that have em, also.

you could also go with a power compact fluorescent hood, they are more expensive but more wattage.

As for plants, I would suggest most crypts, anubias (SP?) and many others, other people might have better suggestions.

You might want to re-think the hair grass. Most of them are very light-needy and you're not supplying much.

Try here and click on light requirements. There are many great looking plants you can put in your tank without having to spend more money on lighting. You can also get a lot of the low light plants from Off-Ice on that site for very little money.

AHsupply.com sells retrofitting hood kits you can look at for the future. As it stands a 15 watt bulb is all you can put in their, the ballast is only rated for that wattage.

The java fern will survive but grow very slowly under that lighting. On the plus side you will not have to add ferts or CO2.

I would suggest buying the biggest java ferns you can afford to. And yes, stay away from Hair Grass for now and any plant that says dwarf.
