In a FO or FOWLR you want a minimum of 10x your tank volume for gph turnover. For a reef I prefer a minimum of 25x although I keep mine higher than that.

So if you had a 100g fOWLR you'd want 1000gph+ to turnover. In a reef it would be 2500gph+

i have a hydor (sp)2 a aqua clear power head, and my bak pak has the new maxijet on it.

The hydor 2's are rated at 600gph. Do you have a model for the ac power head? I usually don't count the skimmer flow as turnover. I count the power heads and closed loop before I tore it down. The skimmer/nano in sump and the retun pump from the sump are all just 'extra'.

- Maximum Output: 200 U.S. Gal. (757 l) per hour
- Full Flow Control: 66 U.S. Gal. (250 l) per hour
