I am lookin' for a new powerhead for my 55gal to swish some water around in there and i have came across some goods one that get good reviews, but i wanted to see what you guys think.........

Maxi-Jet 1200
AquaClear 70 (802)
Power Sweep 228 By Zoo Med
Penguin 1140
Jebao JB2000
Odyssea WP-700

Get either a maxi-jet or a penguin, whichever will be cheaper, both are great. I currently run a penguin 1140 on mine and the flow is pretty strong.

You can also read the product reviews on cichlid-forum, it helps decide sometimes :)

cool, i was leaning towards the maxi-jet cuz i can get it for a good price and it had the best reviews.........thanks a lot

I favor Penguins...

aquaclear 70. i have the 50 model and it is awesome. i bought mine 4 years ago and its probably one of the best investments in this hobby i have made. its built like a tank and is SILENT. plus, it has reverse flow capability, making it ideal for undergravel plates.

thanks guys

If your just wanting water circulation I'd look into one of the propeller style pump myself, like the Koralia. They flow a lot more water, but it is much more spread out to give a much softer actual flow as compared to the 'jets' many powerheads put out. Plus the koralia's have a magnetic base which is kind of nice. Personally, I'll never buy a regular powerhead again, unless its a maxi-jet since you can get the propeller conversion kits and magnetic bases for them, but I already have about 8 of them (and never had a problem with them BTW, 600's-1200's with a few 1600gph and 2100gph mod kits and magnetic bases). I currently have two Koralia 4's in my 75g and a pair of maxi-jet with propeller mods on my 240g and probably going to add more.
