I'm planning an overhaul of my tank, changing gravel to sand, moving plants around etc etc

I've recently had an infestation of ramhorn snails. I'm talking 20 visible babies, 3 egg patches and who knows how many more are hiding in the gravel. Also my tank is too small to take clown loaches.

Anyways, I read an Alum dip will help get the snails off the plants.
But all I found at the supermarket is:

*Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate)
*Pan Salt (sodium chloride 56%, potassium chloride 28%, magnesium sulphate 12%, lysine hydrochloride 2%, silicon dioxide 2%, potassium iodide 0.0036%)
*Sea Salt

Which one should I use??

alum is aluminum potassium sulfate, AlK(SO4)2·12H2O .. not something you're going to find in the supermarket. if your pharmacy doesn't have it you aren't going to.

You can remove the snails in large groups by tempting them with food. After the lights go off for the night, and the tank is dark, place a saucer on the gravel at the bottom of the tank, place a piece of sinking fish food on the saucer and leave for about 25 minutes. When you come back there will probably be several snails on the saucer and they can be easily removed with the saucer and food. you can similarly use lettuce, spinach, scallions or other fresh vegetables to do this, .. weight them down with a small rock.

a couple of Yoyo Loaches will also rid your tank of snails. you may decide to trade them back to the LFS after they've done their job though.

copper based "snail be gone" preparations can kill the snails but may also harm your fish population and plants. i'd remove the fish before using this treatment.

Thanks!

I will make a trap to snatch those snails

Look amongst the spices. Alum is commonly used in pickling and curing meats. Club House Spices I know for sure packages and sells it and I'm sure others do as well. Or you could just raid my mother's spice rack. She's had a bottle there for about 25 years.
