Anyone know how much space a Remora Pro requires behind the tank? The depth is listed at 3.5 inches, but does that include the tubes in the front?

It gets the protiens out of the water... which would break down into nitrates and ammonia... so it can't hurt!
If you need a hangon skimmer... deltc makes the best ones.
For insump, it really depends... Euro Reef and ASM are good but you can't beat a Deltec or say smaller company like Lifereef or MRC.

amen. however when i had a sump (that whole few minutes) i was looking around and was strongly attracted to an ETSS more than the others.wastememphis said:
ive used a remora pro with a rio 2300 (more output than the mag 3) with the surface skimming box and also a coralife super skimmer 65 on the same tank at the same time. i found that the coralife produced drier, higher quality skimmate, and jsut left the remora skimming wet. i woudl say as far as efficiency, the CL won. as far as how much it would have actualy taken out if skimming at the same consistancy, based on what i hav eseen from both, i would say the coralife would win.
HOWEVER, only the remora pro is running on the tank right now because ever once in a while the CL would FREAK OUT for no reason whatsoever and cause a flood. i jsut took it off until i can figure out what to do. and i have no idea why. one time was when i was in block island so i wasnt even there to touch the tank or anything and it was skimming dry the day before. i woke up at 530 am when my step dad called to say there were a few gallons of water in the kitchen (below my tank). he had no idea what to do so he turned off the entire tank and told me it was all fixed when later i came home to find that everythign was off and a few colonies of acros and a superman frag, as well as about 8-9 other frags were entirely above water. i havent heard any other reports of this however, so im not entirely sure how i should go about handling it. that wasnt the first time where that happened either. just the worst
Your skimmer flooded the room? My euro reef flooded my kitchen like three days ago... but that was only becasue it was pushed back near the back of my sump and water splashed out ALL day, did your collection cup overflow or something?
that is exatly what happened. and it is a HOB coralife so its not like it went back into the sump. and it isnt like this happened just from not emptying it. sometimes it woudl jsut freak out and in a matter of minutes it would be overflowing when just prior to that it would be fun and untouched.wastememphis said:

The coralife super skimmer will produce tiny bubbles in the beginning when it is trying to break in.After a while that goes away. I have had the coralife super skimmer 125 going on my 60 gallon reef for over five months now and I do not have any bubbles coming from it.There are also some modifications that can be done to this skimmer to eliminate the micro bubble issue.I did some of them and my skimmer runs like a champ with no micro bubble issue to speak of.
