I got a whiptail catfish from my LFS and upon doing research learned that it would appreciate a bit of driftwood or bogwood to munch on. I got a piece, which I boiled until it sank and no longer colored the water. The cories in the tank love using it as shelter, but the whiptail has yet to touch it.

Is there a reason it's not touching the wood (and should I be concerned)? I would have assumed it would have jumped on it like a new tasty treat, or at least a place to hang out, but it's behavior hasn't changed.

Thanks!

They do need the lignin in their diet, but may not munch on it everyday- it's there when he needs it. Give him time- they usually do the bulk of their activity while you aren't watching.

Thanks... it's been a few days and it still hasn't touch the driftwood, that I've noticed anyway - I think I've just got a 'special' whiptail, he's super active all the time, not at all timid and rarely hides, so maybe he's not keen on driftwood either - lol
