White Algey?

I have a whitish almost see through substance on the side of my tank. Anyone out there tell me what that mite be? My sis had it in her 75g, but its not there now.

how new is the tank?

is it distributed evenly throughout and covering the glass surfaces or in patches. if the former, it's likely a protein scum which can be easily wiped away when you clean the tank.

It just seems to be rate where the water current hits the glass. Thats where it started, now my sis's tank did the same thing and now its gone, so im not gonna worry to much about it. Ya it is a knew tank set up.

i have heard that with a new tank, right after it is set up, the cycling chemicals or something cause a algae bloom that clears up after a few days, dont hold me to it though
