I picked up a “pair” of these at the lfs. He told me that one was female and one was male. The bigger of the two chases the other one all over. I am thinking that I have two males. What do you guys think
1st two are the male
The second two are the “female”
And the last two are them together

Great looking fish!

Cool looking fish, but I think you have 2 males. Both have long dorsal (top) fins & anal (bottom) fins that says males to me. The larger, more colorful fish is the dominant male IMO, the submissive smaller fish will try to get away & look as much like a female as it can to avoid the "alpha" male aggression. Female's fins rarely go much past the caudal peduncle (the fleshy part just before the tail starts)

What size is your tank?

Unfortunately I too agree you might just have 2 males there. Those are very beautiful fish though regardless. My female apistogramma cacatuoides is much smaller than the male. Maybe your fish store would trade you a male for a female if your looking to breed them. These fish are notorious for have sleeper males that appear to be female so choose carefully if you are able to exchange one.
