White area on catfish

I have an upside-down catfish who is the oldest fish in my tank. I just noticed a white area on his side. It doesn't look like spots or a viral growth. It is a whitened oval area with well-defined edges. It looks like the fish just lost color in this area.

Any suggestions?

I can try to get a photo if that would help.
