There is a high die-off rate from shipping as well. With new shrimp like most of hte sulawesi's, i recommend most hobbyists to wait getting them until they are a bit more proven. That is alot of money to spend and potentially be disappointed. There have also been some significan reports of customer service issues from that site recently so be aware of that as well.
As usual correct on all points and especially the last! I am keeping Cardinal Shrimp from Sulawesi (caridina sp.) and the wild ones were a bit difficult to get established and many died in shipping and later in the following weeks to shipping related stress and ammonia poisoning, yes they can take days to die from ammonia poisoning during shipping.
I now have captive bred young and a thriving colony of about 80 to 100 shrimp with several berried at any one time. They have only 8 to 15 young at a time so developing a rip roaring colony will take anyone some time. But that said they are fascinating shrimp and soon captive bred will be showing up on the market as there are many out there now having success.
Trying to establish any "New" wild caught shrimp in the hobby is not for the faint of heart....:headshake2:
