So here are some horrible pictures of my new babies. The one in the rock pile for the most part sat very still and just watched me. The one in the red rocks peeked out once then hid again. I couldn't get a picture of the other on living in the rock pile, he would zoom out them hide again.

These took forever to get! I had to sit very still in front of the tank.

These guys are currently in a 5.5 gallon waiting for their new 20 long to be set up. For company they have a blue mystery snail and some OB zebra fry. The fry are a little more adventurous and they tend to help the clvus feel a little more comfy. The calvus are only an 1" long. The QT tank has lots of plants, rocks and shell so they can hide. I just added a black background as well to make them feel more comfy.
They are eating flakes but seem to feel better about eating when I'm not around. I'm a little concerned about food getting down between the shells and rocks. Is there a bottom dweller that will get along with tangs in a 20L? I know petricola are great fry eaters which I don't need at this time.

Anyway here are pictures

sweet buy! at the next auction i think i might buy some, i hope someone brings a "blue" alto again, there was a few once, they have a blueish tint over part of their body and are interesting looking.

Very cool! Congrats!

They will liven up. My new altolamps were very shy - they just had to get used to the fact that, if they wanted to eat, they were gonna have to look at my ugly mug :lol2:

I am even classically conditioning them to a tapping pattern on the glass. When they first see me come into the fish room, they all hide. As soon as I tap my little diddy, on the glass, most of them come out immediatly.

Have fun and enjoy - I look forward to see pics of them as they grow up.

Sweet... yeah give em some time they will be begging you for food like Mbuna do, it took my larger Comp's a while to feel comfortable to come out..

Little beauts! Yep, Calvus aren't fond of changes of scenery... some never really lose the shyness ( usually the prettiest ones ). My female is much more adventurous than the males. I guess she's out house- shopping. Typical, lol.

LOL Afro my male is always out and my females hide..

Just goes to show you, they all have their own personalities. I think my males are too busy defending their respective caves to wander about. My female is pretty high maintenance, if you ain't got your cave flauntin she ain't spawnin.

Thanks!

They are pretty neat. They kind of "hunt" the flakes as they fall instead of just gobbling them up like my mbuna. It's only been a couple days and now one of them is actually staying out when I'm around. I think given the time they will be a little less shy.
