white cloud minnows

I have been looking around this forum for three hours now and I am just getting more and more confused.

I think that a lot of people seem to have goldfish and white clouds living together happily.

I do not have a test kit, so don't know the levels.

The goldfish is about five years old and abut 3 inches (includng tail)

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The only advice I have been given so far is to put two or three in and see how it goes, but there is no way I want to risk ANY of the fishes life/happiness

I wouldn't add them if it were my tank. I have white clouds and they are very tough little fish, but then they are little fish and goldfish have the ability to eat little fish (not that they are aggressive, just opportunistic). But that being said a white cloud and goldfish do enjoy cooler waters (high 60's to low 70's assuming it isn't a fancy goldfish) so they would work well together in that sense. But white clouds also love planted tanks with a large current in them (they are river fish) and not all goldfish like a large current (pond fish) and eat most plants quickly.

So again if it were my setup I would just have the goldfish, giving it the best home possible as they do live in species only tanks best, IMO.

He won't be lonely, but if you want to give him something to do, add some decorations, fake plants, large rocks etc... so he can spend the day exploring for food.
