There is filamentous white stuff on my plants. At first it was just on the java ferns, and just on the spores and rhizomes, so I thought it was a java fern thing. Now I see it on my moneyworts, and I suspect that it's attacking my riccia as well.

Can fungus grow in water like that?

if it's uneaten food or something like that, it does have a tendency to collect around the stems of plants and things solid in the tank and if not cleaned, it will gow a sort of fungis type glob around it. Do you have any bottom feeders such as cories or anything?

would you happen to have any pics?

i got the same thing goin on. i was told to do water changes here and there, gravel vac and rinse the plants in cool de-chlorinated water. its only on my java fern too.

wait a sec. just noticed you posted in my thread as well lol

I think it's rot of some sort. I remember the last time I saw this. It was on a blanched zucchini to feed someone's otocinclus. Doesn't seem to be attacking the plants though. I think it's attacking the green slime that's also on the side of my tank. I think I'll get some otos soon then.
