I have noticed white spots on some of my freshwater snails.

They seem like they are raised a bit. I am wondering if they are harmful to my snails? and also if there is a way to get rid of them.

Here are some pictures of what I am talking about.

Thanks,

John

I don't think that's a growth. Possibly a hitchhiker of some kind? Can you get it off the shell? (If it were me, I'd be wearing full protective gear. I'm a massive sissy)

ok there are some nerite snails in the tank.

So they won't hert the other snails and also won't hatch correct?

Thanks for you help,

John

that is correct. The lids may pop and release teh larvae, but they will not develop into snails and will just die off or be eaten by fish.

I agree. I have Nerites and they lay plenty of eggs but you won't have to worry about an explosion of baby nerites.
