Can anyone tell me what this is? This has shown up overnight on a few of my plastic plants. I am very new to fish keeping and have 2 marble mollys, 2 mickey mouse platies, 3 serpae tetras, and 3 bumble bee gobys all in a 10g tank. I know now that the gobys shouldnt be in there and am trying to figure out what to do with them. Also this tank has only been set up for about 5 days.

for once.. no.. does anyone? It looks like an aquatic spider web... i've never seen anything like that.

Thats strange because the tank has only been running for about 5 days now. Also this stuff showed up litterally in 6 hours time, At midnight last night it wasnt there, at 6 this morning it was.

I looked at all those types of algae in that link and none really are like what that stuff is. Most if it has diminished or gone away now.....Its just really odd and I hope it isnt hurting my fish

I really don't think its algae, it would need to be green, so it could possibly have chlorophyll to live, and it wouldn't be algae after a short amount of time unles you put enough light on it to blind someone and used a soil substrate and dumped enough chemicals in it to choke a horse.

I'm sorry, I missed the part that it was only set up for 5 days.

I had some strange white stuff show up on my fake plants during my cycle but I didn't worry since I did a fishless cycle. It went away in no time. My guess is it's just that.
I would just do a 50% water change and not worry too much about it. With your tank going thru its cycle weird stuff can pop up and you should be doing frequent water changes anyways with your fishy cycle.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of any help.
