in the last 3 days i have lost 8 tetra, 2 gold nugget plecos and 2 kribensis.

i noticed that two of the remaining three fish in the tank (being plecos) are covered in a whitish brown "glaze" it looks like about the size of Ich but it covers their body completely and it is not white.

i have added prazipro thinking it may be a type of fluke, and gave each fish a melafix bath. my 2 clown plecos and 1 kribensis are all that is left of my once overstocked 55 gallon planted tank. i also added salt and raised temp 2* to 82.

what could this be killing my fish? i will probably have another one dead by time i read this tomorrow, but atleast i will know, right?

if it helps also 2 of the plecos that died had blotches of red on them, as if they were bleeding through their scales. one more krib died. the only fish left is one male krib.

after the last one died (i took a shower and it was breathing, got out and he wasnt) i watched all of the whitish yellowish brown spots start floating around the tank and attaching to the glass.

yes, everyfish was in the top 25% of the tank. the plecos wouldnt stop moving, as if they itched or were irratated. i changed water 20% twice in the last 2 days. what else should i let you know about?

my last remaining fish has apparently gotten the same thing. it is attcking him as if it were a bacterial infection. but i used melafix?... i noticed clumps of the same things described before all ofer his head and dorsal fin. his eye is now white like cloudy. does this help? anybody?

kcooley, could it be velvet? I'm not too familiar with the ailment, as I've never had fish with it, but I recall something about a goldish brown color to it

then that has to be it. i just read a few articles and.... spot on!

thank you!

i guess it is too late to respond, all of the fish are dead. but now i know that this is one disease that is a possibility when introducing wild fish.

i noticed it on the pleco, i asked my friend and he said it was nothing but some poo on the fish... i guess you can never be too safe....

tip: ALWAYS QT incoming fish before adding them to your stock.
