Who am i?

Is it hard to breed and raise them? Id guess i could have a male and female, the one you see in the pics is the male who is the larger of the 2...the female is definately smaller, in total size and length. i got both of them at the same time and they were both of similar size around 1.5inch

The simplest method to sex them is, males have a red spot on the outer half of their claws. In my experience, C. quadricarinatus are not as aggressive as P. alleni or P. clarkii. However, the best method for breeding them is the same. One tank for each adult, and a third as a nursery. Move the female to the male's tank, when you want to breed them. If done the other way, the female will likely view the male as an invader, and fight.

There is a lot of information about them. Try googling 'Yabbie', 'Yabby', 'Red claw', and 'Cherax quadricarinatus'.

You should not house North American/European crays with Cherax species crays as they are very susceptible to a quasi-fungal attack that overwhelms the immune system that almost all North American crays carry and to which most are immune. The end result, if contracted, would be the death of your Cherax crayfish. So I don't recommend that you house a marmorkrebs with these Cherax crays. Also, if you put the Cherax crays into an aquarium that once housed the marmorkrebs you should think about bleaching out everything in the tank and giving it some sun before you place the crays into the same tank.

Definately confirmed, have a male Cherax quadricarinatus...he molted today and got considerably larger and the red mark on the claws

The other one is still smaller, and lacking the same coloration as the male, nor the red mark....would assume it to be female?
