The advantages of a PMDD dosing regime, compared to EI method.
If any?!

I dose EI daily and would like to know who here knows something about this hobby?

t7:

The typical PMDD and the EI which are published I have found to be only guides.

Each tank is a micro ecosystem and the actual desired concentrations of ferts varies.

I have found that these desired concentrations are attained by trial and error.

Never tried PPMD myself, but I've experimented with EI and that's just what it is...an experiment. Like Jones said, there's no catch all dosing method. Each tank is different, so both methods should be adjusted accordingly.

so both methods should be adjusted accordingly.
PPMD is a mix where you cant adjust unless you mix small amounts at a time on your own.

typical ppmd is Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Sulfate, Magnesium Sulfate, Plantex CSM+B

this way all you have to do is measure the same amount each time and be done with it.

This is not a guessing a game. It is a math equation with a definite solution.

They come from 2 different philosophies of dosing regimes. PMDD limits phosphate. EI provides all nutrients in excess, so growth is only limited by light. I've been doing this long enough that I remember when PMDD was popular. EI is much easier, I couldn't get an algae free tank by limiting nutrients. I think PMDD did work when it was coupled with the inefficient bulbs (T12s) that provided lower light levels in those days. I don't think you'll get it to work when you start working with higher light levels. I'm not sure what you mean by advantages? Essentially, all the dosing strategies are different roads to get to the same place. Success with any of them is usually more closely related to appropriate light levels and a corresponding level of nutrients (CO2, NO3, PO4, K and micros).

Of course people regularly tell me I don't know anything, so feel free to act accordingly.

Ah...and that's why I probably wont use it.
