A quick little contest to see who here has the oldest fish. Please post species and approximant age (from the pet store. Add time it was at pet store if you know).

I know I'm not in the running, but I just got into aquaria about a year ago. I'll still start things off.

Betta. Age: about one year.

Oldest current inhabitant is one Labiotropheus trewavasse, born in the 75 in '87-88, living alone in the retirement home of a 33XL.

Next oldest are two each of Synodontis ocellifer and Brachysynodontis batensoda, purchased from the LFS in '90.

My sister has a Cory and he's as old as my nephew..nephew is 12!
But I've read of people owning fish that were 15+years...Koi (k, so they are not tropical) can live for 80+ years..or so I have heard!

the oldest fish i have in my possesion is my arowana he turned 3 in feburary but the oldest fish i own is at my aunts house in thailand its either a channel cat or an asian red tailed cat. i brought him when i when i was there about 15-16 years ago i was 5. that fish was already pretty big so i would guess its around 15 years old. i got him down at the marketplace.

My uncle had a pond in Taiwan with a Koi that was 20+ years old. He had it back in the early 80's around the time when I was born. He has then sold the koi for a large sum of money.:D

Well I have some silver tip tetras that are 3 years old. Not that much compared to some of the other big fish. But they did survive my first aquarium attempt at putting them in an uncycled 5 gallon tank with 3 guppies and a CAE. Only they survived and have since moved to the spaceous 20 gallon planted. Oooooooo
