Who makes the best aquarium heaters?

Visi Therm, all the way, here. How much wattage you need will depend on your area climate and what temperature you keep your rooms at.

I like 3-5 watts per gallon as a general thumb rule, and split the wattage between two heaters on the larger tanks.

I'm completely sold on the visa-therm heaters, myself. I love the 'stealths.'

I think it's "stealth" just because it's all black and submersible, so you can hide it behind whatever you want. It's also shatterproof, and shuts itself off if the water level gets low (ie during waterchanges). Then when you fill the tank back up again, the heater switches back on. Very convenient.

I believe only the stealth comes with lifetime warranty whereas the normal vistherm does not. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Blah blah....more of this personal opinion stuff.

This is where you get lots of in depth personal experiences on a variety of products. I have found that the best way to gauge the quality of a product I have never tried is from just looking at the 1-10 rating that it has gained from a large number of reports.

Seems like Visi-Therm Stealth heaters have the highest rate of customer satisfaction. That should end the debate on a word.

4 watts per gallon, i work out on a 1 watt per litre basis and round up...if in doubt go for 1 watt per litre and add 25 watts under 100 litres, 50 watts over 100

like the idea of two on larger tanks...by larger i would mean anything over 300l?
