Why Are Glasses So Expensive?

Thank you! Now I know why my glasses cost $500 a pair. Always wondered who was holding those of us that need them hostage. I for one can't wear contacts and after watching that, doubt it would matter.
They said they charge 20 times what it cost to make them. That is very conservative. It literally costs about $15.00 for a pair of no line bifocals with transition lenses in a pair of Ralph Lauren frames. Without insurance, they would cost you over $700.00
I used to work in a finishing lab putting lenses into the frames and saw what the cost of these name brand frames and lenses is. The mark up on them is ridiculous.
