why are these things in fish food?

i dont know about food additives causing headaces but reading this thread hurts my head. i went to the new england aquarium today yeah and i noticed they fed their fish fresh vegtables(i also noticed them feeding smaller tanks in the hospital area with average flake foods 'that prodably was loaded with additives). i know alot of pet(dog and cat) owners that feed their pets homemade and or natural diets. well just like the rest of you we understand that diet is a very important subject and from the looks of these lengthy replys we all seem to have given it alot of thought.

Very good point indeed.

And beyond considering the diet, I guess I consider business practice as well. If Hikari is going to tout itself as a high-end, top quality fish food they have little business adding cheap flavor enhancers to what should already be a delicious fishy food.

Copper is the chemical that kills invertabrates.

HBH veggie wafers are tops in my book as far as algae type wafers go. Spirulina is the first ingredient, and my gouramis and otos prefer it to Wardley and Hikari brands. All comercially prepared foods will have fillers and other junk, but in my opinion HBH beats the others hands down.

California laws are ridiculous. I refuse to go through life worrying that everything I touch might give me cancer.
