hey, all....

today I found my little ADF dead., and I can't figure out why. I tested my water yesterday, and my params were fine. she did seem to have trouble sinking and kept floating at the top. every time she tried to swim down, she floated back up. any ideas what went wrong?

Hi,

Well, when did you do your last water change?

Were any other fish picking on her just a little?

I heard a lot about ADFs dieing and apparently for no reason. They are quite mysterios and can be sentsitve. Also, IMO, your tank is just a little OS, and that might have contributed to a death.

Sorry about your loss.

a week ago, before I added the ADF. i'm going to do another one today.

nope, they don't even notice it.

like I said she kept floating and wouldn't sink.

and as long as the parameters are good a slightly OS tank doesn't really kill fish, and mine has had this stock for quite some time now.

I'm not saying this is happening your tank but it very well could be. And that's that even if the parameters are good, an OS tank can cause stress to the inhabitants and lead to death.

I have no idea why your frog died. Was it getting plenty of food?

well yes that usually happens when the tank inhabitants are always in each others faces, and I rarely see them all out at the same time.

I did feed it 2 days ago, and I was going to feed it again today. there is also a plentiful supply of worms in my tank.

Worms IN the tank? I would be concerned about that..

yeah, they've been living there for a while. I sometimes stir some up out of the gravel, because my rasboras love them.

uhmm.....thats usually a sign of over feeding which lead to bad water conditions..

really, I have no idea how they go into the tank. the population isn't really booming, in fact I use it as a gauge as to when I need to do a WC. if I start seeing a lot of worms, I do a gravel vac.

sound like planaria, it a sign that the tank is leaning on the unhealthy side to me
