I still don't know why...I guess I never will.
However to be on the safe side, I did a 70% water change (even though I checked water beforehand and Ammonia = 0) to try and help the little guys out just in case my testkit is faulty.
I am also seriously considering removing my DIY Co2 as it's been suggested that this may also have contributed as my bala appeared to have been "gasping" at the surface.
I guess I need to experiment and see which way my fish are the happiest.
