Why Do Fish Jump?

i'm checking both legs to see which one is being pulled! what cat would allow that? lol

I actually had one on my cat like 5 years ago and thought it was hillarious so I tried to upload it to a site and they said they already had it. Once I fould the pic I have used it for most forums because when I had it on my cat it looked to happy. This cat look mad at the world.

Normally that fish jump is due to the condition of the water.

Some jump, just to jump and suicide on the carpet. happened to my aunt :/, keep tanks well covered.

I've been told that fish are more likely to be jumpy in poor quality water.

I own TONS of mosquito fish and I got them in my tanks and ponds, (I got mosquito fish fry too, they are for sale) when you come close to the pond and they see you they start jumping like crazy to get away from you. So its like when you come close to the pond they jump out then dive in to get to the bottom faster. So i guess its a way to get away from predators. So if a gold fish tries eating one they jump out so it wont catch it and then dive back in the water with high speed to get under a rock or plant or something. So its normal that they jump.
