Why do snails die?

one of my mystery snails died? what could that be from, my other 1 is doing great? he didnt move for 2+ so i took the snail out and shook it and he ploped out, well half of him. it smelt bad. i was just wondering what from?

Could just be age...They live about 2 years or so...

they eat a lot... could be from lack of food? or could be ammonia spike, mysterious bacteria/virus, or ur snail invoked the wrath of god and he was smited!!!

if something as tiny and incompetant as a snail is able to invoke the wrath of god, i think i'm starting to fear my grim future

as far as the snail goes, i'm guessing age. snails also seem to die off in my tank for no reason sometimes, while others remain strong.

When you don't want them you can't get rid of them, when you want them, they die! Either way they are good ornaments. :bowing:
