at least one fo my mollies will occasionally suck food into his mouth, then spit it back out, and keep donig it over and over. Is this normal;?

ive seem my fish do that, i think its a case of the fish are more concerned with eating as much food as possible b4 other tank m8s get to it and end up putting in there mouths more food than they can digest at the one time, also it would help to break up any larger pieces of food

It doesnt smell good, but i think ive seen some fish food advertised as being "better tasting". Im not really worried, he eats, but sometimes hes dumb and does that.

My cat 'makes me' give her some fish food every time I feed my fish!(gives it her best shot)
Hmmm...market fish-food as CAT food..?

That's funny! I left a little sample packet of Tetra flakes on the counter and my cats ripped it all to pieces and ate most of the food. Maybe they use catnip in fish food! :p

My cat eats flake food AND algae wafers lol
I figure the reason the fish spit it out is to "taste" and moisten it.. but I'm not completely sure!

My theory on this is that it is their way of "chewing". They can't chew like we do, so they will repeatedly spit the food back out to break up larger pieces. If they don't like the food, they will just spit it out and then ignore it. JMO - makes sense to me anyway.
