Hello,
My name is Mark and I am 22 years old. I currently attend Western Michigan University as an art student my focuses being drawing and painting. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment with my girlfriend Emily, our German Sheppard/Husky Drake, our two Ferrets Ellie and Rosco, and a 40 gallon (mine) and 20 Gallon (hers). As you can see we both love animals and we take great care of all of them.
I have been training Sheppards for over 8 years. I have had 3 pure breds in my life, all of them were great friendly dogs and all of them developed cancer and passed. I now enjoy the company of Drake my 80lbs Sheppard/Husky. He is a "bamf"... No, seriously, he will just kill you with kisses ^_^
I am fairly new to ferrets. I've had Rosco for three years. He was originally my best friends but he ended up moving to the Air Force on base at Cali which is one of the few states where you can't own a Ferret. I in turn, inherited the ferreted. Ellie was actually a rescue ferret and she suffers from the "can't wake up sydrome" where somtimes she is so heavy in sleep you can pick her up and move her around and yet she will still sleep until you pet her for a few seconds.
The largest tank I have ever owned was a 100 gallon at my parents house in the basement. The main fish I have kept have been my Angel Caliel, Plecos and Gouramis. When I ended up moving to Kalamazoo I sold my set up but kept Caliel because he is my beloved first fish. I purchased him when he was a wee lad but now from fin to fin he is roughly 6". He is accompanied with a Gold, Opaline and Darf Gourami and also a Plecco who I'm guessing affter this summer will need a larger tank.
I made the noob mistake 4 months ago housing a BGK. I researched at some fan sites that said they had BGKs in tanks like 10 gallon and such. It didn't make much sense to me so when I asked LFS Staff who told me he would be perfect in my 40 gallon tank I jumped on it. Unfortunatly I didn't think of asking forums nor have I been signed up to one about fish. When I did and listed the contents of my tank I got chewed out by the older members. I was compared to the likes of Michael Vick by a Member Officer which I didn't take too lightly... I then came here! I know the BGK will get large but I do have a restraunt with a 1,000 some odd gallon tank and hired cleaning crew that can take care of him when he is large enough. My hopes, however, are to have enough income at the end of this summer to justify a purchase off a 100-175 gallon tank... Which even then probably won't be large enough if keeps growing!
I'm also a recreational Drummer. I love making noise and beating things with sticks! I play mostly metal beats and listen to metal music but I do enjoy Blues and Jazz. Unfrotunatley I can't keep my drum set in an apartment building so now the biggest vent in my life is keeping care and watching my fish. It's very enjoyable for me and I love caring for fish... Infact I love taking care of animals in general.
