I can grow a veg. garden outside. I can grow house plants.
Why is it I can't seem Java Moss? It turns brown/black within 48 hours I am assuming that it is dead. This is the 3rd time I have ordered via internet LPS does not carry it.

My water in this tank is perfect.

Amonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 10 ish
Hardness 80 ppm
ph 7.0

This is supposed to be the eastiest plant. What am I doing wrong????

Thanks

Lisa
PS _ If anyone wants me to kill anymore off for them I am willing to take it.

What is your tank temp? Java moss can be kept between 68 and 85 degrees, so this shouldn't be a prob if u r keeping troical fish. I just got some today so I can't really answer your ?, but I'd like to know so I don't kill mine. Maybe someone that has more than a few hours experience will post lol.

whats your lighting situation? And are you adding any ferts to the water?

I have add some liquid fert. hoping to keep it alive..but it died anyway....tank twmp runs between 78/80...lighting is from some direct sunlight (why it will run up to 80 degrees) when I have the blinds open (it was the only place for the tank

You are right! Java Fern is one of he easiests plants to maintain. If after buying 3 times and dying quickly, than I suggest you find another source. You may be getting a bad batch. Ask for free sample to try with the promise of buyng if it lives. Some may be interested.

Carefule with sunlight. If it is direct, "move it" or you will see an algae problem soon. Especially if you are using ferts. Indirect should be prefered. Buut even that can be a problem!

Using sunlight to light a tank is generally not a good way to go.
Why have you not put a fluorescent fixture over the tank? What size is the tank?
