She's laid about 5-6 clutches in her lifetime, and they had gotten smaller every time. Is she just old? She seems more inactive now, too, and doesnt mate nearly as often as she used to.

Parameters? Yeah maybe she is old, how old is she?

Maybe this will help

Might be age but it could also be conditioning, you can try feeding more "snailo" and other high quality calcium rich foods like some fresh veggies in addition to reg. fish foods. I also provide calcium supplements (like tums or caltrate tablets) for them to pick at or a cuttle bone can be a nice treat for them.

Also water quality will pay a large part in the overall health of the snail and well I know I don't feel like mating if the house ain't clean so keeping up the water changes might help.

Also temp. I believe most say around the 76 degree mark but mine are 78- 80 right now ( Yeah its HOT here!!!)

I think give her a rest. Mating and laying eggs aren't exactly relaxing for the poor snails. My canas also suffered ths and I had to move the male cana out for two weeks to give them a rest.

Params are Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates 80, pH 6.5 (my city's water is really acidic), GH 0, KH 180. And temperature is about 84. I took out my heater and have the tank lid open a lot, but it's just really hot. I do frequent water changes with cooler water, but it tends to stay around there, sadly. I supplement with snail jello sometimes, and Tums (the only thing she seems to get off the tank wall for), and liquid calcium.

What else is in the tank- is this a community tank? If it's just the snails- you may want to consider a buffering substrate to raise that pH and GH. Depending on what else you have this might or might not be smart.

Also consider adding some crushed coral to your filter... or... add a little baking soda (just a little mind you) to your water in a water change- I have naturally acidic and very soft water and add 1/2 tsp per 5 gallons when doing water changes.

What I do to make my snails breed is feed, feed and overfeed. Works wonders.

I also have a betta and a pair of cory catfish.

Okay, I'll add baking soda today.

I am sorry for your loss. I know I hate to lose one of my beautiful beasties.

If you do decide on another I agree with the crushed coral idea I add that in a big media bag to my canister filter and occasionally to the tank itself at the base of a plant. I think it helps them.
