Many people also probably set prices expecting to barter, and not actually expecting to get the price they listed at.

I realise that too, but when people set these prices at an auction site, there really is no room for bartering. Maybe if set as a reserve (buy it now) I could understand, but when they expect people to start at that price. ???? It just boggles my mind. I don't know I just see way too much of these types of things, and started to second guess myself. However if people do expect to barter, they do usually tend to add 'obo'.
