Ok sure, let me take someones hotmail for instance, i know yours, care to let me n my team give it a blast? ;)

sure, except I dont have hotmail. :soda:

Pretend hackers crack me up.

Oh and BTW- talking about hacking peoples accounts is a good way to get your ISP to shut you down. The forum does log IPs...

If somone you don't know leaves their front door wide open and you walk in and help yourself to a glass of their milk, are you stealing? Of course you are. The fact that anyone who leaves their door wide open (or their WiFi unprotected) is a fool is irrelevant. Even my kindergarten-aged kids know that taking/using something that doesn't belong to you without permission is wrong.

I consider it stealing if you crack my wi-fi without my permission.

I offer free wireless net access to my neighbors as long as they dont try to host any bandwidth intensive files. I do cap upload/download speeds so they arent hogging the pipe, so to speak. I have a linux box running freeradius for authentication onto my wi-fi so i feel that i am protected against anyone trying to get into my network.

I also applaud cities that are setting up free wi-fi access for residents. Hopefully this will make it easier for people to justify the purchase of a computer who cannot afford a PC and an internet connection.

Personally i do have a wireless internet in my home and i deffinately would consider it stealing if they don't ask you. Think about it what if they do illegal things on line. You are the one who ends up with the problem because the internet is registered to you and the phone line for the DSL is also yours. Unless you know who it is that is using your wi-fi, and what they are doing i would say its a bad idea to let them do that IMO.

I dunno if it's so much taking what's not yours...not that i have a laptop or wi-fi, but i almost see it more like finding a twenty...if somebody left it laying around so far from home....hehe

I look at it this way.. If someone doesn't secure their network, they must not mind someone borrowing bandwidth. At home, my network is secure. When I'm out and about, I'll pull the PDA out and see who is has an open network. Hotels and coffee shops around here haven't got a clue what a secure network is about, or they just don't care. Either way, they leave it open so I'm going to use it.. I think though, that if someone wanted to piggyback on my network at home, as long as they weren't doing anything illegal, I'd be ok with it. I have a 6Mbps DSL connection, and I hardly ever use the full pipe. The servers I download from simply can't keep up with it. So, probably 50-75% of my bandwidth never gets touched.
