wild caught Neolamprologus multifasciatus

I don't have any experience with wild caught shellies, but for the most part they are known for thier undescriminating taste. They will usually eat anything that you put in the tank, and breed as long as you keep them wet. They really are foolproof.

I use flake food (release it underwater so that it sinks in one spot) or the small sinking granuals sold by several companies. I used to feed frozen food for a treat, but was told at a shelldweller forum that it is completely unnecesary. Even the fry require no special care as they will scavange bits of food that the parents miss (although I'm sure live bbs and a mature sponge filter to graze on would only speed development). From what i've read, multiple small feedings (up to six per day) are the best way to ensure rapid growth. Give the wild ones a few days to get hungry and settle in and you shouldn't have a problem.

Multis form colonies consisting of one dominant male and several breeding females. The young are incorporated into the colony and help in it's defense.

Try www.shelldwellers.com. It dosn't get too much traffic, but has great archives and quite a few expert keepers that keep a close eye on new posts.
