Wild Discus laid eggs on filter intake - HELP!!!

kjr928

Go fish yourself.
My friend has a couple of wild royal blue discus in a 30g and they went ahead and laid eggs on the filter intake. Obviously, once they hatch they will all get sucked into the filter (and maybe beforehand). It is some kind of Fluval cannister filter.

My initial thought was that he should stop the filter, disconnect the hose and leave it there, get a new hose and get the filter going on the opposite side of the tank. Let the eggs wait it out on the inactive filter intake. Is this a good option?

Any advice on this problem is greatly appreciated!!!

Just let them go the course this time and change the filter out for next time to a large sponge filter and provide the pair with a breeding cone or piece of slate to lay on.

Seems like leaving the eggs on the intake and getting a new tube is a good option if he wants to keep this batch of eggs. Put a sponge over the intake next time to avoid the same happening, and get a piece of slate like Nolapete said.
