Wild Oscar colors

One of the ugliest baby Oscars I have seen is located on cichlidscene

it looks gray with no color at all.

Then look how great the fish turns out!! Bright red and full bodied!! Ofcourse a lot of that has to do with a great diet, but I never would have guessed that baby would turn out like that.

So, even a gray baby can become a jewel.

No offense to you cichlidscene! Your website has to be one of my favorite and I love your pictures and stories. I mean, hey that oscar turned out wonderfully, but boy... it looks like a drap baby You must have a better eye than mine!

hehe. yeah. i bought mine when he was abt 3 inches, he looked ok as a tiger but after awhile i was so happy that his markings turned out so much better than i expected.

yes indeed they change colors as they grow. can't tell a good one when it's young.

My wild Oscar looks exactly like the one in the picture rus posted, but mine has three "eye spots" and is more green and red
