I bought some cheap 55w actinic bulbs from somewhere and they're too white. I don't think they're true actinic. Anyway, I can't find 55w true actinics anywhere, but have found 65w everywhere. Will the 65's work with the 55 ballast?

Thanks,
Tom

Yes, they will work, but, as i understand it, you will only gte the wattage of the ballast that is powering it...

its the same with T8 and T5...You can put a T5 bulb in a T8 fixture, but you will only get what the T8 ballast will produce..

Hope that helps

Thanks to you both and it did help. Sounds like the ones I bought didn't have the phosphors I needed. I'll have to shell out some more cash for the good ones.
Good link too.
Tom

This online vendor claims they will (scroll down to the FAQ after the product info):

Hope that helps, at least a little.

I use their bulbs in our 4x65w fixture and like them much more than the Coralife brand bulbs we originally had.
