Will a AquaClear 110 work for a 40 gal?

i would use poly-fil, this is what it looks like, http://www.flickr.com/photos/-mia-/3964542927/ thats the only stuff i use, and its been working great for me to.. and cheap! i can get a big bag for under 4.00 and lasts for about 1.5 to 2 months :)

I used to run 2x AC110's on a 55g. One AC110 on a 40g would be great.

Right now I run an AC110 and an Aquatop CF500UV on a 50g Breeder :D

Amongst my other tanks, I've got two 22.5g breeder tanks for plecos.
One has an AC110 an AC30 and a Eheim ECCO 2232.
The other only has an AC70, a AC30, double sponge run by airline, an air powered box filter and a powerhead on a internal filter.
The plecos are happy and the water is not annoying to the smaller fish, or the angel in each tank.

I have a Rena XP2 and three Maxi Jet 1200 power heads in my 4' long 60 gallon (hill stream tank) and my fish love it. Even the WCMM's have zero problems with the current. Depending on how you scape the tank, there should be plenty of areas where the current is considerably less. You'd be surprised how much filter media, plants and/or decorations affect water flow.

I'm probably going to add a powerhead with a sponge pre filter to my 90 gallon that currently has a Rena XP3. Probably going to at least test it out and see how the fish like it.
