Hi Friends,

Will a Eheim 2217 be enough for a 4 Feet, 250 Liter planted tank ? actually I have a 4 to 5" gravel and a 3d background installed, so I guess the volume should be around 200 lits only... anyways will a Eheim 2217 external filter be enough for this ?

Kindly advice and guide me friend...
Thanks and Regards

The Eheim 2217 is rated for a 600L tank so you should be OK. Will this be planted only or will you have fish too? Either way I think you will be good.

I agree, the eheim 2217 is a great filter and will be more than enough. Back in the day I ran 1.....ON A 150 GALLON GOLDFISH TANK. and it was fine.

Though it will do the job quite well, I still recommend two filters rather than just one. In fact I personally prefer to use two smaller filters instead of one larger filter.

Hi Friends...

Thanks for caring and for the replies...

Actually I've a top filter running too, but I'm going to remove it now that I'm convinced that 2217 will do the job... Removing the top filter will give me more planting space...

Thanks again !

I had the exact same dilema. I have an Eheim2217 plus a hood-mounted filter that came with the 300L tank. The only way I could add light was to get rid of the hood. I went for the light. I've only done it this week so we'll see how it goes. I'm planning on cleaning the filter more regularly. I think it should be ok unless its overstocked with messy fish like goldfish.
