Will a three spot gourami eat planaria?

I'm at my wits end with these little %^&^(%%!!! I keep changing water and underfeeding and their numbers keep growing. I'm either going to find something to medicate the tank with or get a three spot to hopefully eat them up. I don't want the three spot for the long haul though. I just don't want these things in my tank anymore.
 
I wouldn't get a fish to deal with a pest and then return it, especially since it is a risk that the gourami might not eat the planaria. That kind of depends on the individual fish.
 
So any suggestions then? Should I try no food for a week or maybe just several days?
 
I have the same dilemma.. any other fish (other than gourami) that would eat these buggers? How about snails? pleco... ? :huh:

I currently have a bristlenose and can confirm that they do not eat them. Well if they do it's not working. lol

OK, so the gourami eats all the hydra and then is given away. Or the gourami doesn't eat the hydra and then is given away. What's wrong with trying it?

Regular paradise fish also have been known to eat hydra.
 
Hey, I just said that I wouldn't get one to deal with the problem--partially because if you get a fish to clean up the problem and then get rid of the fish then as soon as the fish is gone the problem comes back. Also, if your tank is big then one fish probably wont be able to eat it all.
 
Surely there hs to be a way to rid my tank of these guys???? Honestly I don't WANT to get the fish cause I personally think I'm maxed out on my bioload. But I've done MAJOR water changes, gravel vacs, lowered feeding amounts and scrapped the walls and they are still everywhere. My tank is clean as can be. I have no clue what they are living on! :duh:
 
how long have you been doing the frequent water changes? It will take them at least a couple weeks to starve. Also, are the gravel vacuuming sessions removing them from the substrate?

I know it must be very frustrating to see these foreign things living in your tank! I'm personally a control freak about knowing EVERYTHING that's going on in my tanks, and it better be with my permission ;)

Well, haha. I did four water changes in one week when I discovered ich. So for the past two weeks I have been treating for it. The last week I have only done one water change cause I didn't want to have to add tons of salt back in after daily water changes. I thought I had them almost totally wiped out after the four changes I did but now they are back in full force. When doing the gravel vac I assume some are picked up by it. They are so small it is very hard to tell. At this point I am considering a fish fast for the next week and see what that does to them.
