Will Cardinal tetras like frozen brine shrimp?

I added some cardinal tetras yesterday and gave them some frozen brine shrimp thinking they'd love it, they didn't have the reaction I thought they would. They liked the smell but every time one took a bite they spit it back out. Is this unusual?

Any tips on diet that can make them as colorful as possible?
 
i have some in a tub in my yard and they get flake food, as for live food i give them brine shrimp,blood worm,and tubifix worms freeze dried i think however is the live mosquito lava that they get which really helps them to color up.
if you have plants in the tank that should help them to be a bit more relaxed and they should show there colors a bit more.
as for food though you could just mix it up with the above suggestion except fo the mosquito lava of course....
 
But it doesn't have to be live does it? Do you think they will eat frozen brine shrimp eventually? Will they eat all the above in frozen?

eventually, but not instantly, u will have to adjust.........them first and yes, they will eat those metnioned

Does new life spectrum make anything other than sinking pellets? They seem to have 100 different fish food products - did you have one in mind?

New Life Spectrum food formulas are all very similar, so feed according to fish size. I use the small fish formula for my small fish. It says sinking pellet but it does float for awhile.
 
A friend of mine looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned that I feed my tropicals, which he knows are small fish, NLS pellets. .5 mm, and the fish *love* them. They even prefer them over Tetramin and Omega One flake. And *every* fish in the tank has had more vibrant color with the exception of my BN, but he doesn't really have much coloring up potential, anyway.
