Hey guys, I'm looking to find some friends for my lone peppered cory but can't find any good peppereds locally. Will panda or schwartz corys school with him? Thanks,

-Cam

in my 55 i have 10 various cories, including one peppered. i wouldn't say they all school together, but the different species do tend to hang out with each other the most - the two albinos are always near each other, the 4 bronzes do their 'huddle' all the time, the one emerald hangs out with the bronzes, the two barbatus are very independent of each other and the rest of the cories, but do swim near them, and the lone peppered just likes to visit with everybody.

i'd pick up some more cories for your lonely peppered, even if they are a different species.

They will to a certain extent. It will NOT be the same as having other peppered cories. My bronze and sterbai definitely hang out, but at other times are completely seperated doing their own thing.

I have a bunch of different cory species (see my signature). Different species do not tend to hang out together. Petco & Petsmart always have peppered cories.

I read an article a while back that dealt with this same topic. According to my reading, it stated that cories of different lineages that have the same patterning will hang out together for the benefit of the group as a whole. If I remember correctly, this would occur even if they had varied dietary requirements.
If you want to mix species, I would say to try and get fish that share similar color patterns. This is not from personal experience just from some of my reading.
I will try to find where I read this.
