Will Gold Zebra Danios and "Regular" Zebra Danios school together?

Your Neons will adapt once they learn the Danios are harmless.

I have ghost shrimp.

It took them two weeks to come out of hiding. I was quite concerned thinking they would spend their entire lives miserable and in hiding because they were scared to death of these missile shaped fish speeding everywhere.

Now they couldn't care less... they're out and about a lot more and will even swim right into a group of Danios to access food... especially on Saturdays when they're good and hungry (Friday is fasting day for the aquarium).

Danios will school with any Danios like stated. I noticed my Serpae, Lemon and Black Phantom Tetras school together.

i have zebra and leopard an they school lovely together all dashing about and chasing each other but dont let them hang around with slow moving fish it unsettles them

I think the biggest worry for me with slow moving fish would be keeping them fed. I have Cherry Barbs- which arn't slow fish- but they are compared to Danios.

Due to my mix of fish (and shrimps)- at feeding time I normally do floating flakes, shrimp pellets AND algae tabs. Ocasionally snail jello and freeze-dried bloodworms. (culturing some worms for them so they can have live food on occasion).

If I just did flakes the Danios would eat the whole lot before the other fish even realised I had opened the lid to the tank! ;) They are quick and voracious eaters.

The Cherry Barbs resort to feeding from the sinking foods with the cats and shrimp. No way they can compete with Danios for floating food. Plus they seem a little bit peturbed to go to the surface during feeding time.

They get a good mix of nutrition that way.
