Depends on the species, the extent to which they will hunt down and pursue their fry. Most of the aphys/chromaphys do well in permanent setups, but if you tried it with the fundlopanchax group you'd rarely see any babies if at all. The most important thing either way is to provide a lot of cover for the babies, as often their siblings pose more of a threat than their parents.
 
Ok, thx, I am planning a Fp. breeder, and was wondering if I needed a divider :) guess the answer is yes, because I dont have alot of room, it will be in a 10 with the breeding pair and spawning mops in one and the grow up center in the other, the grow up center will be heavily planted! The breeding pair place will have no plants, for I need to see andy missed eggs,
 
oh yah one more thing will species of FP interbreed? Like with diffrent Fp?
