I mistake on my part. enough algae weighed my hydrometer down to give me such an inaccurate that it brought my eel to near death. i had my water checked for several days and it is now chemically balanced. I honestly didnt think my eel would survive this long considering how bad he looked. His body would simply hang over the rock. a week later he moved and kept himself secluded, lying motionless behind some rock either on his side or only his head upside down.

Here's my biggest problem: His body is moving like normal, but his head seems to be stuck in some kind of nuetral position and stuck upside down or on its side. His swimming motion looks more like a desperate twitch, but he is starting to move alot more, but its sad to watch.

sad. just keep the water clean and hope for the best.

BTW, 5000th POST IN MARINE section!

he looks hungry but i cant get him to take anything.
at least his body isnton its side all the time anymore.

What have you tried feeding him and what type of Eel is he? If he is looking for food and uninterested in most food then go to your local grocery store and pick up some fresh shrimp, crab meat and scallops and see if he will go for any of these. Hope this helps and good luck!

he died recently. he looked incredibly hungry when i got him out of the take. his body looked all concave. for the record it was a snow flake eel. i normally do feed them only krill/clams/ squid/ crabs/ gold fish(once a month, but havent had him for a month yet anyway.)
he was about 8 inches long and i know what they say about eels less than 1 foot long, but i wanted to give it a shot anyway.

keep it clean is the best bet and hope it works out. I will hope it works out for you
