will my plants die?

not really. i could probably borrow some $$ if i have to.
so, the concencus is that they will die on me, right? how many days could i be gone and not come home to dead plants?

yeah i was thinking of getting one on my husbands next paycheck anyways because i have no self control and i tend to put off turning the lights off so i can see what's going on in there...lol.

thanks, btw.

The java fern, java moss, and anubias would probably survive. The plants that require more light most likely wouldn't be happy after a week of (relatively) no light, but they might not be beyond redemption.

Ditto! I would borrow $5 to combine it with th $6 you already have...after all, it's not worth to lose established plants. If that were to happen...it would not be just $5 what you would need.

no, i've spent about $70 on plants so far..lol..
i'm not usually so broke but we had two of my kids birthdays this month and unexpectedly needing to go out of town.

Buying a timer is important yes but do I think you should spend your last bit of money on a timer , NO. Sure you want to protect your investment but what happens if you spend that money and your kid(s) get sick and need tylenol or something and you just spent your last $$ on a timer for the tanks. Do you have a landlady or something that could swing by and turn them on or anyone? I know you already said not really but there really is no one? An aunt, uncle cousin, neighbor, in-law anyone?

If I were the person I would rather lend the money than deal with turning the lights on for a whole week...I would probably forget most of the days and would not do my job right, aside from it being easier (IMO).
